1971-72 flew door gunner for 5th transportation 101st Airborne Div. then moved to 326 medevac (dust off) for last 3 mo. of my tour/ I thought being a Door Gunner was a dangerous job/boy did I get my eyes opened/those 3 mo.in dust off I will remember all the days of my life, Rick joe

Flew with Pipesmoke at Phuloi as a rigger/gunner the year I was there 71-72 SSG Mac NCOIC Had my share of fun being one of the cocky bunch. Time there would have really sucked if I had to be one of those poor hanger rats in the 605th or one of the other company's in the 520th.

great job I was a shotgunner with the 114th I was in vingh long from sept1964 till dec 1964 then returned in jan 1966 with the 25th divison to viet nam

I was a platoon leader under COL Larry Brown in the early 1990's in the Oregon Army National Guard. What an amazing soldier and great mentor.

My first tour I was in the 2/34th Armor, 1st Inf. Div. in Lai Khe. Out of those twelve months, we spent, maybe, fifteen to twenty days not in the boonies. We were one of only two tank units with the 1st Inf. we would be with one unit on their op, when they went back in another one would be coming out so we went and linked up with them to go on their op.
My second tour I was a door gunner with the 173rd Assault Helicopter Co. I found I LOVED flying and wished I had done it earlier. We had a clean bed and clean clothes every night and day. Food from a mess hall and even though we were shot down once and went down once from a mechanical malfunction, I loved it!

Served with D Troop 17 Cav 11 CAG July 72 to Feb 73 Guns Plt. Plt Sgt Ridgeway at Marble Mountain, then SSG George after move to Da Nang. CW2 Charles Dean was flying my ship when he was killed. Would like to know if CW2 Canary survived his injuries. Other Plt members Sp5 Anson, Sp5 Magyar, Sp4 Norbomb, Tiny, Sp4 George (Native American). I am sorry I can not remember everybodies name.

Was with the Razorbacks for a short time,then flew as crew chief on Dean202 with the Roadrunner Plt,I was in country from June 68 through January 69.Great website
