Hello all! My name is Kelsi Smurr.

My grandfather Donald Cook served in the 135TH AHC, 214TH AVN BN, 164TH AVN GROUP, 1ST AVIATION BDE, USARV

He never made it home and growing up I never learned much about him. I wonder if anyone knew him or could tell me anything about him

Thank you all, God Bless

Today, just discovered your site when google filtered my 'Pleiku AB' request, your site entered as one of the thumbnails. I was an AF PCS at Pleiku AB in'66 with the other beast, the A1Es. We knew you guys were out there, all around us, watched your action and I would like to give my big hearty thanks, super hugs to you guys for being the first buffer between us and indian country, keeping the evil-doers out of our business the best you could. Did it well my brothers. God continue to be with you. Thanks.

The choppers were our life line for amo, food, and often the ride to the next battle, some of which started before we got out of the slicks.
To run between Charlies shots and the exploding ordance of Gun ships. What fun it was! :!cool:

I served as a door gunner, then crew chief in Headquarters Troop on Eagle from July 1971 until the Cav left RVN. Aircraft were 276 and 719. Me and Tom Castillo, a fellow crew chief, got sent to B/229 AHC, 2nd Bat., 3rd Brig., First Cav. in Bien Hoa to finish out our vacation. Left RVN the day the Spring Offensive began. Incoming on Bien Hoa Airfield while we awaited take-off on the freedom bird.

I spent my tour in Vietnam with the 129th AHC. I was a crew chief in the 2nd flight Platoon on 664. 129th AHC was at An Son, South Vietnam. Also called: LANE ARMY AIRFIELD. We backed up the Korean TIGER DIVISION. :)

I am a 78 year old Air Force retiree and as I was viewing your web site I came upon the calling card "Have teams will Travel". I was given the same card from a LRRP when I was the NCOIC of the Air Force Munitions Storage area on Tan Son Nhut. He came asking for some special ammo that the Army ASP across the road wouldn't give him without a pile of paperwork. My OIC was a WWII combat soldier prior to his Air Force time. He said son, I will give you anything you need to help kill VC. He got what he wanted and he gave us his calling card which I have carried in my wallet since that day. I feel so good to see the same card on your website. Thanks for letting me tell my story. :D
