It has been awhile since I last visit the site. I served with HHQ & B Trp. 3/17 Air Cav. Dian & Dong Tam 68-69. Found a few old pictures and would like to submit for addition to the collection. Welcome Home!

Just finished "Easter Offensive", by Col Turley and anyone in D Troop 1/1, 1971-1972 should read and wonder why we did not get intel before hand. It also makes a case for a Valorous Unit Award. There is also a good movie "Ride the Thunder".

Home town Buffalo, OK when I joined the Army. Presently living in Many, LA. Assigned to B Co (Avn Co 6th SFG) 227th AHB, 1st Cav in Sep '65. Road the slow boat to VN and lived in a squad tent at the Gulf Course till my DEROS in May '66. We did not have the later call signs nor Company unit patches while I was there so that is all foreign to me and very interesting. We called the BN CO Skipper 6, don't remember his name. He was the first Master Army Aviator I saw during my service from '63-'66. He was a WWII vet and one tough old man. I for one had a lot of respect for him. If we went on a mission of more than a hand full of ships he was always flying the C & C bird and at least once went in and picked up the 4 man crew from a slick shot down in Happy Valley. We were involved in the opening days of the Ah Shu battle but the BN was relieved by the 229th after just a day or two. They had the tough part of that little go around. Thanks for the memories.

I am looking for anyone who remembers Robert L Fleegle. In 1967 he was in the 11th Cavalry, Air Cav. I am trying to help his son find stories or photos of his father.

Thank you!

The Legacy of Valor
Vietnam Helicopter Images and Artifacts
D Troop, 2nd Squadron, 1st Calvary Regiment
pictures and Artifacts referencing Michael F Russell.

I was in D Troop 2/1 and I transferred to K Troop when Michael F Russell was there. His brother furnished pictures and said he was fuzzy about Michael Russell's time with K Troop 17th Cav. Since I was there, I would love to talk to him and give him any information I can.

Was the last Service Platoon Leader in C Trp. 7/1 Cavalry before they moved to Ft. Polk in 1976. Had a number of exciting, challenging jobs in 24 years in the Army, but none of them came close to 7/1. What a great unit made of wonderful people. Wear my Stetson proudly :D
