Comments: I was looking for the old 2/20 ARA, as we flew our missions with them. when I accidentally found your site. I was in C Co, 228 ASHB, then was moved to Ist Aviation Det (Guns-A-Go-Go) 228 ASHB. I crew Ch-21C in Korea with A Co, 15th Avn Bn, 1st Cav Div, then moved to Ft Benning 11th Air Assault Div, 202 Avn Co, 228th ASHB, shipped out to Nam in Sep 65. Attached to 2-7 Cav at Phan Thiet. Left country, later shipped to 7th Inf Div, Korea as the forward support PS, later reassigned to the 19th Avn Co crewing CH-37, later after turning in the CH-37 we received the Ch-47 the unit name changed to the 271 Avn Co. AS I think about it all my crashes had been in Korea, twice in the CH-21s and once in a CH-37. Never mind Nam, I had 20 hole in the airframe and five blades shot-up. Thank God we made it back, I wear my unit citation on my ball cap in respect for those I served with they had earned those citations and less we forget its a good reminded for us and the respect they deserved. My last Tour was with C Troop, 16th Cav, and after the peace treaty was signed and we were mortared, my last action as Gun PSG was to get my troops out to Saigon for their flight home, and turn in all our snakes. To my surprise I was reassigned in country to the 18th Avh Co. (Hillclimbers), later we got a VOCO to relocate to Capital Airfield and attached to the 1st Avn Bde to support the peace keepers. As your it I had to get the troops sign-out and turn-in all our equipment. I had one man left who I had the Bde make sure he gets home. Aloha :!cool:

Comments: 282nd Avn Con, at Ft. Benning, and RVN, late 65 thru June 67. Hue and Marble Mountain. 144 RR (FW) Laffing Eagle, 68-69, An Khe and Nha Trang.
Comments: I graduated with WORWAC 66-7 (Yellow Hats) in July 1966. I was initially assigned to the 1st AIR CAV and arrived in Pleiku only to be told that all orders were cancelled and that we were to be transferred to Saigon the next day and would be re-assigned by a new Aviation Officer at USARV HQS. A week after arriving in Saigon I finally got my new orders to HQS IIFFV at Long Binh. I stayed there my whole tour and was designated as the Air Operations Officer for the Aviation Detachment supporting the HQS. We had 12 UH-1 aircraft. I accumulated over 1,500 hours that year. I came back to Fort Rucker and completed the MOI VFR and IFR Instructors Course and was assigned to the Rotary-Wing Qualification Course. I came off active to return to college but stayed in the Army reserve and finished as a Major in Military Intelligence. I later worked with the Central Intelligence Agency in the Directorate of Operations with the Special Operations Group. I am now semi-retired living in Pembroke Pines, FL.
