I was in Nam from May of 66 until Dec 67.My first unit was D.Co. 2 BN 12 1st Air Cav as a grunt 81mm mortarmem, I did that for about 3&1/2 months.I then put in a 1049. A request to be come a door gunner on helicopters. Three weeks later I was flying as a gunner on CH 47 Chinook.I was happy as hell to get out of that damn jungle.Had some good days and bad ones but real glad i made it home! :)
