Comments: Just a little background on the 46th. Special Forces Company Camp at Nam Pung Dam. We were attached to the 1st. SFG on Okinawa. I served at Nam Pung Dam from August 1967 to September 1968. We had a SF "B" Team- B4610 and several 'A" Team. I was with A-4613. While there we built a large medical clinic at the front gate, a 1000 ft. paved airstrip, converted all bunkers to round cast concrete with thick concrete caps. We ran armed medical civic action missions all around the camp but mostly towards Laos. There was a number of Thai Special Forces units at the camp too. The camp had no organic air units. All helicopter support came from the Air Force - CH-3 / HH-53 from NKP. We had some Army Huey support. I have many photos and stories too many for a short post.

Comments: I was assigned to the 334th Armed Helicopter Company in Oct of 1967 thru Oct 1968. After about 3 months working in the maintenance hanger I became a AH-1G Crew Chief with the Playboy Platoon. If anyone looks at this site and was assigned to the Playboys during the time I was there please send email. There were also two dogs in the company that I remember they were Sam and Gladys (I think). I was also known as "Boots" The Platoon Sergeant at that time I believe was SSG Smith or Smitty.

Comments: So very fortunate flying U21's based in Long Thanh. Most missions were flying out of Saigon to "anyplace" having an airfield in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand
I so often remember my 3 best Rucker Flight School buddies from Rucker. All three were killed in their first 3-months flying "Bird Dogs." I consider all to be heros and offer a sincere salute.
