Comments: My cousin, Harvey Sproul, Jr. served in C Troop, 3rd Squadron, 17th Air Cavalry from 1968-69. He just passed away in November 2020. He took quite a few photos while on tour and I am in the process of putting a video montage together for his daughter so she could learn more about his time there. If anyone remembers him I would appreciate so info on how his comrades remember him.

Comments: Proud to have been selected as Platoon Leader of the Playboys in 1967 when we were the first to fly the AH-1G Cobra in Combat as a part of the 334th AHC based out of Bien Hoa in III Corps. There were 8 of us trained by the NETT team.

Comments: I was crew chief with 17th when at Bein Hoi and the the unit went OPCON to the 101st at Camp Eagle. Trying to find an old buddy and door gunner Thomas Turk.
The 17th does not have much info, I think because in 65 and 66 it was a Caribou fixed wing unit in Plieku. The their aircraft were gi en to the air force and the 17th was deactivated. In 1967 was reactivated as 17th ahc at Ft. Riley, KS.

Comments: I couple of years ago I discovered a letter from Tom Hannigan, August 21, 1971 from Nha Be. We met briefly in Louisville KY shortly before his deployment. I mentioned the letter to my son, who has served 2 tours in Afghanistan and 1 in GTMO; his immediate reaction was "Try to contact him!" In googling I found this website and hope that and hope that I may still send my appreciation to Tom for his service ... also thanks to all the men pictured and mentioned here.
