Comments: April 66’. Arrived at the 71st Asslt helo co, The Rattlers, Approx 3 months later, was sent to the 68th Asslt helo co. Also at Bien Hoa. Had a field maint. crew (391st trans Det ) Later got the opportunity to be the crew chief on Top Tiger Tail until December 67. Left Bien Hoa on Dec 18th. The late David Green assumed crew duties on TTTail. ( RIP D Green). I/we were in orbit over LZ on Palm Sunday (67’)when one of our helos, on loan to the 118th , landed on a explosive device and totally destroyed. One survivor was Dave Holloway. We lost John Sheffield, Johnny Mashburn, and Mister Barton and several troops. May all Rest In Peace. That was not all that happened that day. But several of us were awarded Bronze Stars. In a nutshell, that is part of my 18 months in country. Top Tiger forever, Sincerely, Don Ragan
