Comments: I was a LOH crewchief assigned to 25thDIVARTY at cu chi. We were not scouts like D Troop, but we flew in same ar as as D Troop. We were a single LOH with an M -60 and m16 as arms. Our job was the try and find NVA companies with intell from S 2. We sometimes had an artillary officer in front seat with pilot. Crewchief rode in rear.one day I was over at 725th Main. And was trying to find out how D Troop mounted their M60s.someone introduced me to Joe Ramey, a D troop crewchief in the scouts. He showed me how to hang their 60s on bungee cord in rear. Sadly I heard Joe was killed in Cambodia in May 1970. I was shot down in Cambodia also but no one was even hurt.if anyone can tell me howJoe died, I would ld apreciate it. He was a nice guy.
Comments: I have a combat knife 14 inches long, Bowie type blade, engraved Sgt. Mark C. Abel, Vietnam (69-71), (Scout Plt) on one side and on the other it says B TRP/ 1/9th CAV., 1st CAV. DIV., "Head Hunter". It came into my possession through a pawn broker in St. Pete, FL. who knew Mark Able and apparently took care of him. I have no further information. I would like to pass this on and see that it gets some respect. Ideas?
