Comments: I served with A troop 1/9 Cav from Oct 1967 until Oct 1968, I was the crew chief on "Crippler Six". I was involved in the response to Bob Peda's crash at lang vei in 1968. We landed at the bottom of the camp and myself and my door gunner crawled up the hill in an attempt to rescue Bob Peda. I remember George Iler and Capt Milton Sikes. I was awarded the Silver Star for Lang Vei action.

Comments: Just to let folks know that Mr.Ballou of the "Electric Egg" photo on this site just passed away. RIP He was a great aviator and pilot and had balls the size of watermelons. He was also extremely smart and didn't put others in danger for stupid reasons. I flew with him but his main co-pilot, gunner was Robert Hepler. I served with the unit 6/68-6/69. The best to all. Kevin

Comments: I just read the early history of the 269th and it stopped in 1968. A listing of the commanders of 269th did not include LTC William Dillard who commanded the 269th in 1970 and gave up command to take over 145th CAB at Bien Hoa. I was XO of 145th and CO of 68th AHC under LTC Dillard and in Jan 71 the 145th and 269th exchanged colors under LTC Richard Kenyon trying to retain the 145th in country the longest as it had been the first in country. I became XO of 269th and brought the colors of the 269th and equipment of 145th back to Ft Bragg, NC to LTC Herschel Stephens and helped reconstitute the 269th at Ft Bragg while I was TDY to Ft Bragg.

Comments: Good day, I am doing research on my late husbands military service. His name was Lawson W. spencer Jr., but most people knew him as Bubba. He was from Tennessee and served in the 11 CAG in Viet Nam from 71 to 72 as a military policeman. Like most Viet Nam Vets, he didn't talk much about his service there and since he has been gone, I have tried to find more about his service and the units he was with for his children.
thanks for you time.
Debra Spencer, also former Army, 63H30.
