Comments: Thanks for the history. I was a late arrival to the 571 about July '68 as a peter pilot. Vince gave me my in-country orientation and my AC check before I transferred to the 237th at Evans in November. Welcome home.

Comments: Looking for anyone who knew or served with my Dad. US Army 1986-1971 Sp4 John Nix Basic at Ft. Lewis 2-5 1968 AIT Ft. Ord after basic traing 1968 Wurzburg Germany 9-68 to 4-69 2/64 Armor, Leighton Barracks
Vietnam 5-69 to 11-70 HHC 4th S&T Bn, 4th ID Camp Enari, Pleiku Discom patrols....GOLD TEAM, SEVERAL PATROLS. Possibly MACV, I have his MACV payroll card from 1970...I have no idea what this means, but its nowhere in his records.
Extended: June 1970- November 8, 1970 HHC 15th S&T Bn. I also have him in a photo standing next to a Cobra Gunship with the insignia: sweat hog. The other side of the Cobra read: D Co. 229th smiling tigers.
Does anyone remember him? While with The 1st Cav...he was extracted early, November 8, 1970, under Special Orders No. 312. Ive been looking for ANY information online, for MONTHS. I cant find one single thing about this order. A few Veterans are tellimg me it is STILL CLASSIFIED. Whatever 312 did mean in 1970, was the reason he was extracted early. I have all his letter home from Basic until 3 weeks before his extraction. His demeanor was FINE across the board in all those letters. He was sent home and spent 4 months at Walter Reed,in the psych ward and was also residing at The Forest Glen Annex on the same property as the WRAIR. Something very bad happened, pr was done to him....he was Schizophrenic after he came home...its the reason I did not have my Dad. I want to know what happened to him over there. Please if ANYONE thinks they might know who he was....Please contact me. If anyone remembers him being with D.Co. 229th smiling tigers in 1970....please please contact me. Thank you, God Bless...you are ALL HEROES TO ME...AND SURVIVORS. I AM PROUD OF MY DAD, AND ALL OF YOU. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME...
Sincerely, Laurie
Daughter of a WARRIOR♡

Comments: Was "infused" into the 240th mad dogs may 66 (magdog alpha) and rotated nov 66. Came from air troop, 11 ACR. Does anyone know where I can get mad dog patches, pins or car tag frames? Was CWO then retired O6. Thanks, JD
Comments: I've been scouring the web for quite some time for information on my dad's unit, 362nd Aviation Company, Phu Loi, 1971 - 1972. For anyone interested, my dad is Kenneth Edwards. I used Wayback Machine to see if the website ran by the late LTC Carle E. Dunn and found the site can still be viewed as long as you go through that service.
Since there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information on the 362nd, I wanted to share here so that other people will be able to access this information.

Comments: I served with B 5/7 Cav.in Vietnam from Oct67-Oct68. On Feb.21st 1968 a photo was taken of me & my RTO in a battle outside of Hue during TET68. A month or so later on the evening chopper came some newspapers where this photo was on the front page. I'm guessing it was "The Cavalair"newspaper since I was in the 1st Cavalry Division. I sure would like to see this paper & this photo before my time is up. Can you help me,please. It would mean the world to much. Even if there is no chance I would like to know. Sincerely,Mike Shoemaker
