Comments: Hello Mr. Jones, I was looking for some photos of "The crystal ship", because I'm building a scalemodel of a Cobra. It was made by a czech manufacturer AZ model (stock number AZ7449, if you're interrested), and one of it's markings is right "The crystal ship". Thank you for your photos and a story behind them.
Yours sincerely Petr

Comments: I served with the 147th assault spport Helicopter co in Vung Tau March 1969 to March 1970. I was a crew chief on Cobra tail # 19020 (I think) with the AH1G Training team. Being ther when I was we were not getting enough replacement of pilots or crew chiefs or mechanics so those of us there at this time did double duty on many jobs, including enlisted flying front seat on occasion. AH1GTT was attached to the 147th while I was there. AH1GTT was directly under USARV command being tasked to training huey pilots to fly the cobra. Just after I left Vietnam I was told that AH1GTT was being moved to Bear Cat. I am in the recent book by Nancy Lynch VIETNAM MAILBAG. Rick Lovekin

Comments: GREAT website! I was in the 173rd "Robinhood's" as a Helicopter mechanic and was in DongHa Feb 71, then moved to DaNang (Marble mountain) some time in May 1971 til the end of January 1972. Just trying to connect with others who were there, to share stories...
