D 2/1 patch worn by my brother, Michael F. Russell who first served with "D" Troop 2/1 and also with "A" Troop 7th Squadron 1st AirCav. He was wearing them when he was shot down in Vietnam/Cambodia in 1971 -- he survived that crash, but he was recently deceased in an EMS helicopter crash in Illinois. I found the patches going through his belongings and I remember he told me he saved the patches he had on his flight suit the day he was shot.

W/O Michael Russell - Scout Platoon D/2/1. " Mike served with A/2/1 from December 70-May of 71. He was with D/2/1 from July 70 through October 70. In between he apparently served with k Troop 17th Cavalry but there is something fuzzy about this I am trying to sort out. "
