C Battery, 2nd Battalion, 20th Field Artillery Regiment
Chair back cover

I was with "C" Battery, 2nd Battalion, 20th Artillery (Aerial Rocket Artillery), 1st Cavalry Division on my second tour in 1969. I got AH-1G "Cobra" IP School at Hunter AAF, Georgia enroute to South Vietnam. My other school choices were OH-6 IP School or CH-47 transition, but I was (and am still) a gunship driver by temperment and I just couldn't resist the chance to fly snakes. I ended up getting shot in the left foot with a 12.7mm round one dark, very scary night. The round just missed my head on its way through the aircraft, so I've always felt grateful that all I lost was a big toe and a chunk of my foot. A pretty good deal
