This unit came into existence October 1966 from the assets of the 197th Armed Hel C, colors retired to Ft Benning. The orginal unit UTT, came to Vietnam in Sept. 62. Went on to be 68th Avn Unit, then 197th Armed Hel Co, then 334th Armed Hel. Co. The unit got its first Cobras in Sept 67, call sign Playboys. In Sept 68 unit went to all cobras, sending all Charlie-model gunships to 68thAHC or the Navy and ARVN's A DRAGON IS FOREVER!! - Jim Aretz

This poem's author is unknown but believed to be a British Officer from the Crimean War or late 19th century. It was also on 197th Personal cards ( Business card type). I'm responsible for it being on the wall of the Club.
