"I served with the 240th AHC out of BearCat from Apr 70 to Nov 71. This is  me on the top Pad of the Black Virgin. I was a Warrant Officer Pilot and Maintenance Officer for the last six month of my tour. I extended so I could stay in the service. I was with the Greyhounds from Apr 70 to Nov 71. My Callsign was Greyhound 13 on White Flight and Kennel Keeper 13 while in Maintenance. I was also known in the Company as "The Frito Bandido" since I am originally from Honduras." - Felix Bates

White Flight Patch 240th AHC First Flight - This patch was worn in and around the later part of 1970 and the begining of 1971. It was brought to me by Richard Toops who was my roomate and was shot down on Jan 22, 1971 when flying with Bill Seaborn who was KIA that day. The "Wild Willy's Warhounds" was becuase our Company Commander was Major Williams at that time. I can't remember who came after him. We usually changed Co's about every six months so they could give command time to the Real Live Officers as Commissioned Officers were called. RLO's.... - Felix Bates

Me with my UH-1H of the 240th AHC, I named "Nightmare," at the Navy Seawolf Huey base, Nha Be, South Vietnam in late 1971. Nightmare, s/n 67-17522, was overall very dark OD, almost black, and carried only personal markings since we took her on "Black" missions inside Cambodia, in fact, all the way to Phnom Penh, when it was under attack. Nightmare brought me back every time.

My aircraft AC, who was nicknamed "Buzz." The 2-2 playing cards on his helmet referred to our Huey's call sign "Greyhound 22," which was derived from the Huey's serial no. 67-17522.
