The third platoon of the 21st RAC lost a beloved platoon sergeant who was killed driving this jeep to the flight line in Quang Ngai. PSG Bagasol's death on September 29th, 1968 was the reason the company ordered the third platoon to move from Quang Ngai to Chu Lai. Standing by the jeep is Captain Goodrum.

1LT Steve Shortall was often the organizer of after hour activities in the 21st RAC. Here he is in a yo-yo contest with the maintenance officer. Steve was later shot down and died on February 12, 1969. The unit searched for him for two days before finding the wreckage and his observer who miraculously survived and escaped and evaded until spotted on February 14, 1969. To this day, Valentine's day always brings back bad memories.
